The Ilaujuq program is a joint Makivik Corporation and Air Inuit initiative created to help make air travel more accessible for the Inuit of Nunavik. It offers reduced rates for beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement whose work or lifestyle may require them to move frequently between communities.
Under the Ilaujuq program, Inuit beneficiaries of Nunavik are granted 3 return airline tickets per year at a 75% reduction from the normal fare. The intent of the program, however, is not only to provide financial relief, but to preserve the integrity of Inuit culture and way of life by helping the Inuit stay in touch with one another and enhancing their prospects for the future through travel .
