In progress since
The runway will remain open throughout the construction period. However, a displaced runway threshold will result in temporary operational restrictions, requiring adjustments to the regular flight schedule and reducing the number of seats available on flights to and from Puvirnituq (YPX).
Operations will be carried out in two phases:
Phase 1 – August 4 to 9
Boeing 737 flights will continue to operate between Montréal (YUL) and La Grande (YGL). Passengers travelling to or from Puvirnituq (YPX) will continue their journey aboard a Dash-8 between YGL and YPX.
Phase 2 – August 10 to 18
Boeing 737 flights will continue to operate between Montréal (YUL) and La Grande (YGL). Passengers travelling to or from Puvirnituq (YPX) will continue their journey aboard a Dash-8 between YGL and Inukjuak (YPH), followed by a Twin Otter between YPH and YPX.
Priority for Essential Travel
Due to the reduced capacity on flights to and from Puvirnituq, priority will be given to essential travel, including travel related to health services (hospital and the Inuulitsivik Health Centre), as well as rotational employees performing essential Air Inuit operations. Remaining seats will be made available based on availability.
Passengers travelling between August 4 and 18, 2026, are encouraged to consult the revised schedule below and to contact our Reservations team with any questions or if they require assistance with their booking.
Cargo Service
Due to the runway rehabilitation work at Puvirnituq Airport (YPX) and the resulting operational restrictions, Air Inuit recommends that customers plan shipments of priority, perishable, or oversized cargo as early as possible to help minimize delivery delays.
The deadline to tender cargo destined for Puvirnituq (YPX) is August 6, 2026. No cargo destined for Puvirnituq (YPX) will be accepted from August 7 through August 17, 2026, inclusive.
We thank our passengers for their understanding and cooperation.
