Runway Construction in Puvirnituq

Air Inuit Contingency Plan – Puvirnituq Runway Construction

On May 29, the Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable du Québec and the Kativik Regional Government informed users of the Puvirnituq (YPX) airport that runway, taxiway, and apron resurfacing and stabilization work is scheduled from mid-June to mid-September 2025.

To ensure essential air service is maintained throughout the period, Air Inuit has implemented a contingency plan.

  • Several flight schedule adjustments will have to be made during phases 2A and 2B. Please refer to the Notice issued by the MTMD for the calendar.
  • Dates remain subject to change depending on weather conditions and other unforeseen factors during construction.
  • For residents and workers in Puvirnituq, we strongly recommend limiting travel to essential trips only, as service capacity will be significantly reduced. Flights will be operated exclusively by Twin Otter aircraft.
  • Passengers who normally connect through Puvirnituq will be rerouted via another airport in our network. Updated itineraries will be sent once the changes are reflected in our system.

**UPDATE**

We invite users of Puvirnituq Airport to limit travel throughout the construction period to prioritize access for essential services and workers.
