Technical Pilot / Flight Safety Officer

Tasks descriptions

  • Participation in the Company’s Safety Management System
  • Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of training programs
  • Collaborate with other managers to produce final documentation content
  • Monitoring industry flight safety concerns which may have an impact on Company operations and communicating these through Company Safety Management System protocols
  • Conducting periodic safety surveys and integrating the results of these into the Air Inuit Safety Management System.
  • Developing safety oriented programs (as required)
  • Assist the Director and Managers in the Flight Operations department in new operations, new regulations as well as evaluation/re-evaluation of current system and operations to provide support in all segments of the department
  • Provides pro-active support to Flight Operations on current issues through conferences, symposiums, and other methods
  • Liaison with other Company departments / external stakeholders on flight operations and safety related matters
  • Develop and implement continuous process improvements in both the flight operations and safety scopes
  • Conducting all other duties assigned by the Director of Flight Operations


  • Ability to hold a Captain position on Company aircrafts. Experience as Pilot-in-Command (PIC) on jet aircraft is mandatory
  • Experience as a training Pilot and as an ACP (on similar aircraft group as in Air Inuit fleet)
  • Comprehensive experience in training dimension
  • Experience in developing/managing policies, procedures, or standards
  • Acute knowledge in aviation related legislation and policies
  • Experience in aviation Safety Management Systems
  • Experience in working with risk management concepts and principles, Quality Assurance
  • Bilingual written and spoken (French/English), Inuktitut (an asset)
  • College diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong writing skills
