  • He is responsible, with the Captain, forthe security and operational control of flights;
  • He analyzes and evaluates potentially hazardous weather information and selects the most appropriate route;
  • He calculates the amount of fuel needed to run the flight safely and economically efficient, depending on the type of aircraft, flight duration, limitations, maintenance, weather conditions and minimum fuel required by the Canadian Aviation regulations;
  • He prepares the flight plan containing the following information: the weight available for takeoff and landing, weather reports, runway conditions, the Notams and other other information’s necessary to perform a safe flight;
  • He monitors weather, aircrafts position reports and air navigation maps to assess the progress of the flight;
  • He advises the Captain of any significant change in the weather, alternative flight plan for a change of course and, if required, for an emergency landing.


  • Have a high school diploma;
  • Strong communications skills;
  • Bilingual (French and English);
  • Have successfully completed both Transport Canada examinations (FDOPS and FDMET);
  • Knowledge of the regulations and / or relevant experience;
  • Possess a valid radio license;
  • Good organizational skills, attention to detail and maturity;
  • Show a strong sense of responsibility;
  • Ability to quickly find effective solutions;
  • Demonstrate tact and leadership;
  • Capacity to concentrate and to cope with pressure;
  • Basic knowledge of office software (Word, Excel, etc.);
  • Flexibility to work on various schedules.
