Here are some helpful packing tips for your upcoming trip
Keep your personal identification, ticket information, money, medication, a change of clothes and your toiletries in your carry-on baggage. If your checked baggage is lost or delayed, you will have all the essentials to get by until your baggage has been recovered.
Do not overpack. Bring only what you really need. You'll have to pay additional fees if you exceed the weight restrictions for carry-on and checked baggage.
Place identification tags inside and outside your baggage, with your name, address and a phone number where you can be reached in case of mishandling. Air Inuit baggage identification tags are available at all airports.
Remove all tags from previous trips to avoid confusion and potential baggage delays.
Make sure that you have a tag for each piece of checked baggage and that your final destination is clearly printed on each one.
Make sure the bag or suitcase you remove from the conveyer belt is, in fact, yours. Many bags and suitcases look alike.
If something appears to have happened to your baggage, advise an Air Inuit agent while you are still at the airport. It will be easier to prove that the damage occurred while the baggage was in our care.
Tuck away loose straps or any other items that may get caught in the conveyer belt to avoid damage to your baggage and airport property.
Avoid packing the following items in your checked baggage, as they may become damaged or lost in transit:
Passports, personal identification, tickets or credit cards
Money, watches, jewelery or valuables
Cameras or photographic equipment
Audio-video equipment
Computers and components (hardware or software)
Glasses and lenses
Glassware or crystalware
Bottled beverages
Works of art, antiques or collectors’ items and carvings
Medication
*We suggest shipping some of the articles listed above through Air Inuit Cargo services as some require specific packaging and extra care.
